Spending almost a month at Wharton’s Leadership in the Business World (LBW) program was one of the highlights of my summer. From the very first day, I was surrounded by motivated students from across the globe, and the energy in the classroom pushed me to think and participate at a new level.

I especially enjoyed the case studies, where we weren’t just reading about companies but actively debating the impact of their decisions. Working in a team of five to analyze CrowdStrike was the most exciting part for me: we dove into frameworks like the Value Chain, Porter’s Five Forces, VRIO, and PESTEL. At first, it felt overwhelming, but as we pieced things together, I realized how each tool gave us a different lens on the same problem. Presenting our analysis at the end felt like a real accomplishment, and it showed me how much I love blending teamwork with business strategy.

Additionally, I especially want to thank Professor Steven Bidwell. I learned more about his business experiences and even our shared love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he actually imparted to me the most important advice during a shared jiu-jitsu class at the gym. When the course ended, I stayed an extra day to join a Jiu-Jitsu class he taught at a nearby gym, and I asked for advice on the new business I was working on. While catching our breaths, he challenged me to pursue my clothing business idea: he confirmed that the best time to try was now, and that I could diversify in a saturated market.

Overall, the late-night brainstorming sessions with my teammates and conversations with professors who connected theory to the real world gave me the sense that we were all learning not just business, but also how to lead with purpose. I left the program not only with sharper skills, but also with confidence that business is the field where I can make the most impact.

July 2024

In the summer of 2024, I was selected through a competitive application to attend the Berkeley Business Academy for Youth (BBAY) at the Haas School of Business. Over two weeks, I gained hands-on exposure to entrepreneurship by creating a full business plan that included marketing strategy, financial modeling, revenue streams, and organizational structure.

Working in a team of five, I took on the role of Chief of Operations as we developed GreenVest, a livestreaming platform designed to connect investors with sustainable startups. I loved the challenge of blending creativity with strategy and sketching the platform’s look and feel, while also making sure the design reflected the mission of promoting sustainability. Presenting GreenVest at the end of the program was both exciting and eye-opening, as I saw how design could help tell a company’s story and inspire confidence in its mission.

The BBAY program not only sharpened my understanding of business fundamentals but also showed me how innovation and sustainability can go hand-in-hand. It left me inspired to continue exploring how design and entrepreneurship can work together to create positive impact.

July - August 2023

Entrepreneurship has always excited me because it blends creativity with problem-solving. At Penn’s Essentials of Entrepreneurship (EoE) program, I finally had the chance to put that passion into practice by working with a team to launch and pitch our own startup.

Over the course of the program, I learned the building blocks of creating a successful venture by conducting market research, designing products and services, planning financials, and exploring strategies for scaling and investment. These lessons came alive when my team and I developed PitchedIn, an investment platform inspired by Shark Tank that connects entrepreneurs with potential backers.

As part of the team, I contributed to shaping the idea and refining our pitch. Standing in front of peers to present PitchedIn was both nerve-wracking and exhilarating, but it also gave me confidence in my ability to bring creative ideas into the world of business. What I took away most from EoE was the realization that entrepreneurship isn’t just about bold ideas: it’s about teamwork, persistence, and believing in the power of collaboration.

2022 Summer

In the summer of 2022, I had the opportunity to attend Aggie STEM Camp after being chosen through a selective application. The program gave me the chance to dive into product design and engineering from a STEM perspective through civil-engineering build challenges and lessons in statistics and biomedicine, combining problem-solving with creativity in a way that was both challenging and fun.

One of my favorite projects was designing a collapsible and reusable container, inspired by foldable Chinese takeout boxes. Our team brainstormed ways to make everyday items more sustainable and practical, and I loved seeing how an idea sketched on paper could evolve into a thoughtful prototype. At the end of the program, we pitched our design, which pushed me to think not only about how a product works, but also about how to present it effectively to others.

This experience showed me how engineering and design can intersect to solve real-world problems, and it sparked my interest in pursuing projects that combine sustainability, creativity, and innovation.
