Seedling Sun Foundation
Seedling Sun is rooted in the pillars of creativity and education. Our name comes from the belief that every child is like a seedling with potential, waiting to bloom with the right nurturing. I founded the Seedling Sun Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to act as the sun that nurtures young artists and writers through a platform to create digitally illustrated and narrated children's books.
Our motto is that everyone deserves the resources for creativity. The nonprofit continues to expand by offering many events for free classes on various subjects, free art therapy for people with special needs, free book design workshops, and many other activities. Our stories and classes not only inspire kids to read, write, and imagine, but also empower young creators with the unique opportunity to see their work published and shared with a global audience.
Teaching creativity has become especially important for the future of students with the rise of artificial intelligence. What was once thought to be impossible for a machine, is now being performed by AI. While it can act as a useful tool, many people are losing their skills for creating. Many jobs are even being replaced, and today, it is difficult to determine what is safe from AI. However, creativity is an inherently human trait that cannot be replicated by a machine, making it the most important skill to equip future generations with to thrive in the era of artificial intelligence.
To date, we have partnered with two major nonprofits in the Houston area, released dozens of children’s books, taught over a hundred classes, and reached over 1000 students. We have recruited volunteers from all over Brazoria County and even expanded with a thriving chapter in California.
What began as a simple idea has grown into a thriving community where peers collaborate, create, and inspire the next generation through art and storytelling.
